SEO - My Two Favourite Tools Revealed

By Barbara Jones

Whatever your interest in the internet, be it trying to make money, communicate a message to the world, or just having fun, getting a good search engine ranking is of utmost importance if you want to get visitors to your site. There are other ways such as conventional article marketing (very time consuming) or pay per click advertising (very expensive). However, if you know how to do it search engine optimization is ruthlessly effective at getting visitors to your site and achieving your long-term goals.

The first step is targetting specific low competition keywords - i.e. keywords with a high enough search volume to be of interest, but with low amounts of competition to give you a reasonable chance of getting listed in the first page. You can do this using the free Google Keyword research tool to establish the amount of traffic that you'll get followed by a Google search (in speech markets) to find out the number of competing pages. However, I find that this doesn't work too well. Firstly it's very time consuming. Secondly, when doing this you have no visibility of the SEO of the competing pages which is a very significant in establishing the feasibility of a good search engine ranking.

In my opinion one of the best paid services is MicroNicheFinder. It overcomes the big limitations of the free keyword research methods. Most importantly of all it considers a variety of highly complex variables to realistically compute your chances of ranking for a specific keyword. It's available from Clickbank. It's a tool that I would not be without.

Another thing to point out is don't underestimate the importance of your site's content. In particular the content should be targetted to specific keywords that you have identified in your keyword research efforts. The content should also be 100% unique and it should be regularly updated (new content at least 3 times a week for the first couple of months). Regularly updated sites really catch the attention of the search engines.

Back links are also vital to a good ranking and the search engines are looking for a consistent increases with time. Article marketing is great for this and you can create anchor links in your resource box using your target keywords. The huge downside to article marketing is that (if done manually) you're looking at weeks and weeks of work to create multiple versions and submit to different sites. However, I use a great, paid tool called Unique Article Wizard which make the process about a thousands times easier. Not only does it create unique versions of your article, it also submits the article on your behalf. Using this tool you can literally generate thousands of back links with very little effort at all. Based on my own experiences this is remarkably effective.

Now Unique Article Wizard is great for quantity of back links. The other thing to consider is quality of back links - i.e. the higher the page rank of the site that you are back linking from the higher the weight the back link from will carry in the eyes of the search engines. High PR sites that will accept a do follow (this is very important) back link are very difficult to find within your niche. For this I use a service offered by Easy Backlinker which is a basically a search engine for locating these sites. You normally get your back link by adding a comment to an existing post or article.

And that's it basically. If you follow these methods you will get free search engine traffic for your site. I know that these methods work as I use them myself and I can therefore say this with absolute certainty. And the great thing about them is that they don't take up too much of your time.

If you're a little impatient and want immediate free traffic then publish articles on using EzineArticles, Squidoo and Hubpages. These resullt in immediate visits to your site while you wait for search engine rank to improve. As an added bonus you do of course generate additional back links.
